Fiber Festivals Drawings

The past few weeks have flown past in a flurry of getting ready for the two shows coming up.

Palouse Fiber Festival in Moscow, ID June 17 –
19
Want to spin cotton, flax or hemp with your Jenkins’ spindle? There’s still some spots in the Bast Fibers workshop I’ll be teaching Saturday afternoon at the PFFF.
Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene, OR June 24 – 26,
Booth G 8 & 9 in the lovely air-conditioned Convention Center at the Lane Co Fairgrounds.

Exciting news!!! Ed has been able to get eight horn spindles made. Trying to make them has been a real challenge: worse than pulling teeth! The shape and size of the horn dictates the final shape and size of the spindle. A horn that looks straight and thick might end up with only the tip that’s solid enough to make into a spindle.Horn 6.11.16So, we don’t have a particular label for them other than Horn spindles. Ed mixed all the horns together when he was cleaning them. Whew, was that a job he’s not eager to tackle again!

As we did with the horn spindles at Black Sheep Gathering last year, we’ll be holding drawings for the horn spindles.
Each day at Palouse FF there will be one drawing for one horn spindle. Interested buyers will put their name/phone/address/email on a piece of paper which will go into an envelope for that spindle. At the designated time one piece will be drawn.

All drawings will take place at our booth. The person’s whose name is drawn will need to pay for and pick up the spindle that same day.

Here are the tentative times for the horn spindle(s) drawings:
Palouse FF in Moscow, ID June 17 – 19

Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene, OR June 24 – 26
Friday @ 4:30 pm           (Marketplace hours: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm)
Saturday @ 4:30 pm      (Marketplace hours: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm)
Sunday @ 3:00 pm         (Marketplace hours: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm)

If/when Ed makes more horn spindles they’ll be sold via drawings here on the website with plenty of advance notice.

More exciting news: Ed and I were asked to be the speakers at the Palouse Fiber Festival next Saturday evening, the theme is “Do what you love, life is short.” 🙂

The Office will be closed from Monday, June 13 – Wednesday, June 29. Emails will not be checked during this time as all our focus needs to be directed to being ready for and at the shows.

  1. Hi Ed and Wanda! It was great being neighbors at the Palouse Fiber Arts Fest. I wanted to drop a note to say that I am loving my spindles and plan to show them off at the Fibers on the Flathead event this weekend. It was great meeting you and hope we cross paths again soon!
