Spinning Day

Three women from the monthly spinning group participated in the historical days celebration at Silver Falls State Park this past Saturday. One couldn’t ask for a more beautiful setting on a day that almost reached 100F. The young ranger set us up on the lodge’s covered porch facing the falls canyon, a location which happily funneled a slight, cooling breeze. (Porch pictured on revolving images on the linked page.) If you ever take a trip to Oregon I highly recommend this park with its trail of 10 falls, bike and horse paths and camping.

The six hours sped past as we spun and chatted with park visitors. One gentleman, Jeff – with a tripod and camera, his wife and teenaged granddaughter were very interested in the process. Judith using her spindles, Sharon with her treadle wheel and I on the Great Wheel showed the evolution of spinning through the ages.

graciously agreed to using my camera to take this video.

If you ever have the opportunity to take part in a spinning demonstration, jump at the chance! We met people from around the world. What a blast!
